About Us
Bug in Word is an open index of news, articles and research — built for people who want the source, not the spin.
Bug in Word started from a simple frustration: the answer to almost every problem already exists somewhere online, but it is buried under feeds that are optimised for scrolling rather than finding. A policy change is announced on a government site, a fix is described in a working paper, a clarification appears in a city council report — and none of it surfaces when you actually need it.
So we built the thing we wanted to use: a modern discovery feed for what is new, sitting on top of an old-fashioned, human-readable directory for everything else. Our motto is the whole philosophy — every glitch has a fix. Our job is to help you find it.
What we index
- News — timely reporting on technology, public policy, accessibility, cities, education and the systems people depend on.
- Articles — explainers, guides and long reads that turn complicated topics into something you can act on.
- Research — papers, reports and datasets, including PDFs submitted by researchers and practitioners through our submission desk.
How we are different
We do not run an engagement algorithm. Entries appear newest-first in the Discover feed and are filed in a stable directory so they can always be found again. Every entry links back to its original source, carries a byline, and can be corrected — if you spot a bug, you can report it from any entry page.
Editorial independence
Inclusion in the index is an editorial decision. We do not sell placement in search results or in the directory, and we do not accept payment for reviews of submitted research. Where an entry references a third-party organisation, that reference is informational only and does not imply a relationship with that organisation.
Contact
Questions, corrections and partnership enquiries go to [email protected]. For submissions, please use the submission page so your work is routed to the right reviewer.
