What Bug in Word collects, why, and the choices you have.
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Bug in Word (buginword.com) is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. We do not require accounts, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell personal information.
Information we process
- Server and delivery logs. Like any website, our hosting and content-delivery providers automatically process technical data such as IP address, browser type, requested page and time of request, to deliver pages and protect the Site against abuse. These logs are retained for a limited period.
- Web fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google when fetching them.
- Search queries. Search runs entirely in your browser against a public index file. Your query appears in the page address but is not stored by us.
- Submission drafts. If you use "Save draft" on the submission page, the text you typed is stored in your own browser's local storage. It is not sent to us, and you can delete it with "Clear draft" or by clearing site data.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your address and message and use them only to reply and keep a record of the correspondence.
Why we process it
We process technical data on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning website, and correspondence data to respond to you. Where the law requires consent, we ask for it.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers that host and deliver the Site, or where required by law. We do not sell or rent personal data.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to a data-protection authority. To exercise these rights, email [email protected].
Children
The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 16.
